Greenlight America is the leading grassroots campaign force powering the nations clean energy transition at the local level. Founded in 2023, we educate, empower, and mobilize volunteers to make their voices heard and win permitting approvals for clean energy projects in their communities. In the past two years we have advanced more than 20 gigawatts of clean power to the grid, approximately 10x the size of the Hoover Dam.
The Research Analyst plays a central role in Greenlights research and campaigns work, including identifying, evaluating, and utilizing data and information sources; writing research briefs, reports, and other materials; and strategic analysis to support campaigns. A successful candidate for this position will be a skilled researcher with a keen interest in learning new things, as well as an excellent writer and communicator. They will be highly creative, curious, and persistent in finding the answers to questions and exhibit strong attention to detail. The position is remote and reports to the Senior Manager, Campaign Research.
Identify clean energy projects and ordinances that will require local approvals from public information and large datasets such as interconnection queue data, news reports, developer websites, and government documents.
Evaluate campaign opportunities across core criteria including timeliness, impact, winnability and reach.
Perform research and write briefs, memos, and reports on decision-makers and organizational stakeholders, such as local officials, partner organizations, and funding entities using established templates and procedures.
Research and analyze legal and regulatory frameworks to explain project approval processes and their impact on clean energy deployment across multiple jurisdictions.
Research and analyze the economic and community benefits of clean energy projects.
Work closely with Greenlights research, campaigns, communications, and partnership staff to develop research products that meet strategic needs and advance organizational priorities.

Demonstrated skill in summarizing and presenting data and technical information in a user-friendly manner
Ability to rapidly develop knowledge and expertise on new topic areas
Demonstrate curiosity and persistence in finding the answers to questions
Willingness to think creatively, take risks, objectively evaluate results, and iterate
Strong written and verbal communications skills
Strong attention to detail
Passion for accelerating the clean energy transition
